Children should never open the door for anyone unless prior approval has been given for that person to be let into the home. This is important because most predators who assault children are usually known by the victim. Therefore, if you simply say don't let in a "stranger", you've accomplished nothing in keeping your child safe. Once a predator knows a child is alone, they can easily convince them to allow them in.
To gain access to your child, predators often portray themselves as a person the child is likely to see at the door. For example, a predator may dress as a delivery service employee with a package or maybe a utility worker, cable installer or even a police officer.
By lowering your guard in this manner, neither you nor your child is fearful of opening the door. Just what the predator wants.
Children alone should not even acknowledge that they are home. Women alone should exercise common sense.)
