Ego Lure

This lure works best on young girls or women. The set-up is for the predator to portray himself as a movie producer, magazine photographer or talent scout. It's designed to appeal to the victim's ego.

The predator may be wearing a hat, name badge or display a business card indicating an affiliation with a magazine. He'll then tell the intended victim that they have "the look" his agency has been trying to capture. Furthermore, if selected, they could become very famous.

The predator will ask permission to take their photograph, on the spot, so they can send it to the studio. Prior to taking the photograph however, he tells them they need to sign a waiver or release so he can send the picture to the main studio. He may also try to get them to go to a van outside or to some other location to sign these forms, additionally a predator may even offer a cash payment of $100 or more, on the spot.

This lures most effective aspect is that it goes to the heart of every girl's ego. What girl doesn't want to be a star?

Ego Lure Scenarios

Scenario 1

A man comes up to you with a camera around his neck and an ID card attached to his chest and tells you that if you let him take your picture, he'll give you $100. What would you do?

Scenario 2

A man comes, approaches you and tells you that you're the one he's been looking for to model some clothes. He then asks you to walk over to his van so that he can take a couple of photographs. What would you do?

Scenario 3

A man who has an ID card attached to his chest indicating that he's from a popular teen magazine, asks you to pose for a couple of photographs. He then offers you $100 to meet him at his van in the parking lot where there is more money. What would you do?
