I'm Lost Lure
A predator can easily approach a child and ask for directions. It may be in the form of simply asking if they are familiar with a particular street, which the predator already knows is located nearby. If the predator is successful in getting a child's attention, he's opened the door. One of two options are now available for him. If the child approaches, the predator can abduct him. If the child stops to engage in helpful conversation, the predator has established a communication link. Children are very vulnerable to lures that rely on courteous and kindly behavior. Most children have been conditioned to respond to and respect adults. They therefore hold adults in high esteem and when given the opportunity to be of assistance they are eager to do so.
