Reward Lure

With the reward lure a predator sets up a planned trap. He either leaves an item out in full view to be found or he hides it in a way that makes it easy to find. The item could be an animal such as a puppy or something of value like money or jewelry. Whatever it is, the objective is to get their victim to bring the found item to a predetermined location to receive a reward.

The predator will approach a child nd tell them that he has lost or misplaced whatever the discovered item is. The predator will explain further that he is willing to pay a reward to anyone who happens to find it.

This lure appeals to two types of emotions in children. The first is their desire to help someone in need. And second is being rewarded with money. Teaching your child not to fall victim to this and other types of lures depicted in this video can be accomplished by practicing a variety of scenarios.

(Children should never accept anything from anyone without checking with their parents first)

Reward Lure Scenearios

Scenario 1

A man come up to you holding a $20 bill and explains that if you can find his puppy he will give you the money. What would you do?

Scenario 2

You see a man crawling on the ground looking for something. As you approach, he explains that he lost a very valuable ring and he will pay you $100 if you help him find it. What would you do?

Scenario 3

A man runs up to you and in a very excited voice explains that his baby somehow walked away and if you help him find it he will pay you $100. What would you do?

Scenario 4

A man approaches you and says that he has misplaced his car keys. He tells you that if you help him find them he'll pay you $50. What would you do?
