10 Feet Tall & Bullet Proof

Hello NAK Team,

One of the most important and valuable life skills we could ever develop as Black belt Champions….is our own…“Attitude of Excellence.”

There are many ways a Champions can train their brain and condition themselves for consistent peak performance. One way is to develop a set of beliefs and values that serve & strengthen their own will to win and to become a High Achieving Peak Performer.

This week we are focusing ourselves on developing a Black Belt Mindset called being 10 ft.Tall & Bulletproof.

Imagine that you really were 10 ft. Tall. You’d have a far greater vision of where you were going and you’d be able to see obstacles in advance. This would give you great powers as a leader, simply because you would have a much clearer view of the path you are traveling in life.

Now, imagine that you were also bulletproof against anything harmful that could slow you down. Nobody could say or do anything that would slow you down or discourage you from taking action that leads to making forward progress everyday.

You’d be bulletproof from sickness, negative emotions and even negative comments or actions from others.

Being 10ft. Tall & Bulletproof is like having an armor that can’t be pierced and it gives you an advantage in achieving your most important goals and objectives. What could you accomplish if you really were 10 ft. tall and bulletproof?

“I am fit, I am lean, I’m a highly skilled Black Belt Machine… I am 10 ft. Tall and Bulletproof!”

Simple Nutrition; the Foundation for Success

by Sihing Jessica Walters

At the beginning of every year many people desire to lose weight, and so the grueling task begins as people seek after the latest weight loss trend in hopes that the magic in those books will secure for them a thinner future. However, in reality, being armed with “Simple Nutrition” is all that’s needed for that thinner future we all desire.

At first it may seem difficult and uncomfortable to change the way we think and eat. But, like anything worth obtaining, it just takes some work. “Simple Nutrition” is exactly what it sounds like, nutrition made simple. I like to think of it as going back to the basics in eating. Your mom always told you to eat your vegetables and guess what … She’s right!

The Power of Words

Written or spoken, words are continuously propelling us through life. They lift us up, drag us down, wound us deeply or heal our hearts. Words have the power to break confidences, build life long alliances or start wars. Words can make or break us, both as individuals and as a society. What have you been saying lately? The words you speak can have a profound effect on the people they reach. Are you encouraging or discouraging? Are you building up your children? Or are you tearing down your own family with words of criticism, bitterness and judgment? Are you causing the destruction of your self-esteem by speaking ill suited words over yourself, your health and prosperity?

Words have set whole nations in motion…Give me the right word and the right accent and I will move the world. Joseph Conrad

Why do we find it so difficult to refrain from saying words we know will only harm? Controlling what we say, though, how hard do we really try? Is it simply a form of self discipline that we are lacking? We seek to control every aspect of our lives. Self-control? Isn't this one of our black belt principles that we all strive for?

It does seem to take on a life of its own bursting out of control at times when emotions are elevated. Whether we are quickly placing our foot in our mouth or cutting down another driver in rush hour traffic, it is a problem most of us (unless you live in isolation) combat daily, including me! I strive daily to watch not only what I say to my kids but my husband as well. Self-Control... I work on it every day!

Friendly

True Martial Artists do not walk around with chips on their shoulder. They are friendly and caring individuals who interact well with others, rarely, if ever presenting an undesirable attitude. Make sure you are involved with others outside of your Martial Arts classes. Remember, it’s important to strive for Black Belt Excellence, but understanding how to interact positively and empathetically with others is also an important skill.
