e-NAK, Issue #009 - The Habit of Attention to Detail June 23, 2009 |
The Habit of Attention of DetailHello Champions, "Successful people form the habit of doing what failures don't like to do. The like the results they get by doing what they don't necessarily enjoy." - Earl Nightingale
It’s been said that the little things don’t mean a lot, they mean everything. That is certainly true when it comes to paying attention to details.
All forms of Martial Arts, combatives or performance, competition or street application…the Devil is in the Details! Take the Art of Muay Thai, often called the science of eight limbs. The detail of how you apply those eight limbs is extremely important to it’s overall effectiveness. A simple example could be the portion of the foot or shin you use when attacking with your kicks. Another example may be the habit of attention to detail in your footwork. These details can affect your balance, power, speed and more. Maui Thai is considered to be one of the most simple and effective striking arts in the world. Simple doesn’t always mean easy. There are still a lot of details you must learn and make habitual for you to become proficient at this excellent form of the Martial Arts. XMA=>Extreme Martial Arts is an awe inspiring performance art. The best performers are generally very athletic and able to blend together highly advanced kicking skills, along with impressive acrobatics. Similar to World Class Gymnast doing a floor exercise, there are many details that need to be learned, drilled and made habit for excellence in this fine art. Jiu Jitsu is well known as the most effective grappling art. When studying this fine art, you quickly learn there is more to it than meets the eye. You must pay attention to many details, such as your grip, your posture and even your breathing to avoid exhausting your energy. It’s an art that requires an appreciation for detail, if you wish to achieve excellence. “The way you do anything influences the way you do everything!” As part of our Habits of Excellence series, we are reminding you to train to yourself to develop the Habit of Attention to Detail on and off the mats. In your Martial Arts, in your life and anything else that you wish to excel at. Life is a lot more fun when you are excelling at it!

Health & Fitness Tip}>Everyday we train is a great day...which is why we train everyday!
There are so many positive benefits to daily training that I couldn't even list them all in this article. I will mention a few of the key benefits that I personally enjoy and have watched thousands of others enjoy as well. One of the biggies that jumps out is STRESS RELIEF. When you train properly on a daily basis, you are keeping your body stronger, more flexible and fit. You release endorphins that lead to an almost euphoric state of mind that can become a positive addiction. By investing an hour a day in yourself, some days it may only be a half hour, either way you are improving your overall health and fitness. Mentally, physically and emotionally. Training gets your blood flowing and increases your overall energy level while reducing your tension and stress level. You look better, feel better and have more energy for all areas of life's activities and functions. Plus, when it's done right and with the right people, it's a lot of fun. It's always nice to have a little fun, especially when it's leading you toward a cleaner, leaner and more fit body. Everyday we train is a great day...which is why we train everyday. EventsDon't forget..Special Dad's gift, all non-active Dad's train for free for the month of June. You still have two weeks left in June.June 27th - underbelt test
