e-NAK, Issue #011 - Habit of Positive Self Expectancy September 02, 2009 |
Habit of Positive Self ExpectancyWinners expect to win in advance. What the mind dwells upon, the body acts on. You tend to get exactly what you expect to get. That can be good or bad, positive or negative, healthy or unhealthy, rich or poor. In order to win, you must first expect to win! ----------- "We find what we expect to find, and we receive what we ask for." -- Elbert Hubbard -----------
Champions are winners because they have a winning attitude. Champions have an optimistic attitude of positive self expectancy. They expect the best and they intend to get the best of everything in life. It's as though success and achievement is part of their DNA. What do you expect of yourself? Do you expect to win? Do you expect success and achievement on a larger scale? When you expect to win, the action you take to make it happen, seems almost effortless because you know you are going to succeed. Making the actions and effort all worthwhile and easier to take. When you expect to lose, even the smallest of actions can seem difficult and hard; primarily because your negative expectancy weighs heavy on your brain and drains you of your ambition and drive. Losers expect to lose. They expect to get sick...to fail...to drop the ball. Winners expect to win. They expect great health, wealth and happiness, which provides them with a fighting spirit that never quits. Be a winner and make Positive Self Expectancy your habit for life!

Health & Fitness Tip: H.I.I.T.}>High Intensity Interval Training
As part of our weekly training tips, this months focus is called H.I.I.T. Which simply stands for High Intensity Interval Training. It is often applied in our classes. It's also part of World Class fight training, often used to get a fighter in top shape. UFC Mixed Martial Arts fighters, boxers, wrestlers, Judo competitors and Martial Arts students worldwide use this principle to lose weight, become leaner, meaner and increase their level of fitness. If it works for them, it will work for you. It can be simple rounds of 2-3-5 minutes followed by a 1 minute rest. It may be sprints followed by a light jog followed by sprints again. It is proven to be a great way to lose fat while maintaining muscle mass. A great example of it's impact is to look at the physique of a World Class sprinter versus and long distance marathoner. Another great example is UFC World Champion...Georges St. Pierre.
H.I.I.T. combined with well balanced nutrition leads to a lean, toned and fit body that will last longer, stay stronger and perform better.
Flu Season Fast Approaching! With the flu season approaching we would like your help in keeping all our staff and students in good health. Our community has not yet felt the effects of the 2009 H1N1 influenza, but we should plan for any influenza outbreak this fall and winter, and be ready to implement strategies to protect our NAK families.
•Anyone, child and or adult, not feeling well should please stay home and away from the dojo. •Hand washing and covering coughs and sneezes should be encouraged, and routine cleaning of commonly touched surfaces should be performed regularly. •Anyone who has symptoms of influenza-like illness are recommended to stay home and not come to the dojo until at least 24 hours after their fever has resolved.
The NAK staff will do everything we can to help keep things clean and safe for all. Frequent and thorough hand washing with soap and water is a critical defense against the spread of flu. Where soap and water are unavailable, hand sanitizers are a reasonably effective alternative. NAK provides alcohol based hand sanitizer for students to use between hand washing. Good Hygiene is always preferred; please avoid sharing towels or eating utensils; cough or sneeze into tissue or paper napkins, and immediately dispose in an appropriate waste receptacle and wash your hands after sneezing, coughing or touching your mouth or nose area. Please help us all by monitoring others for signs of illness. A person who is unwell with symptoms of cough, nasal congestion, sneezing and high fever should be directed to seek medical assistance. The symptoms are of the flu include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Some people have reported diarrhea and vomiting associated with the flu.
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) says the Flu can be spread from person to person by directly inhaling the virus from a cough or sneeze of an infected person -- or indirectly by touching an object of an infected person and then touching your eyes, mouth, or nose. That is why frequent hand washing is extremely important. Most victims are contagious before they show symptoms. Infected people usually show symptoms in 2-7 days.
The best defense against the flu is frequent hand washing.
A person is infectious for at least one day before symptoms begin. Symptoms are: •Fever of 100.4 F or 38 C or above •Non-productive cough •Muscle aches and fatigue •Persons over 60 years may not exhibit an elevated temperature, but should consider the flu if they have malaise, chills, headache, or body aches.
You can also help us out by informing us if our soap dispensers are not working properly or need to be re-filled. Having your children recite the ABC’s while washing their hands is a great way to ensure enough time has elapsed for the soap and water to do the trick. Remember, antibacterial hand soap is not necessarily effective against viruses. Contact time is the key to removing the virus. Everyone should avoid touching their mouth, nose and eyes; if they do so, they should immediately wash their hands.

Respect
Martial Artist know that respect is about treating others as we would have them treat us in the same situation. It’s reflected
in the way we speak, the way we treat our family, friends, environment, community, and the way we regard the rights, ideas, and property of others. Respect embodies the golden rule. The ethical lesson has been called the corner stone of moral behavior. It tells us that everybody has a right to be RESPECTED.
